I dedicated most of my life to exact science, and especially to the study of physics. One of the fields that fascinate me to this day is astrophysics, the study of the universe. In this collection I chose to combine astrophysics with fashion and to take inspiration from the issues and visual content that astrophysicists explore on a daily basis. The core of astrophysics is observations of various phenomena in the universe, such as the formation of stars, their motion in space and the end of their lives. These phenomena are explained by various theories and are supported by equations and relevant math. These were the visual materials I drew inspiration from - photographs of various astrophysical phenomena, equations and graphs.

One of the phenomena that is most intriguing to me, both conceptually and visually, is the explosion that occurs at the end of a star’s life, a supernova. I translated this phenomenon into nylon and combined the technique in different parts of the collection. Although the astrophysical observations of supernovas show a colorful pallet, I chose to work with few basic colors: black, white, yellow, blue, green and red. I have also processed some of the photographs into prints by duplication and symmetry, tools astrophysicists frequently apply in their studies.

 

Active wear is often characterized by logos and graphics. To that end I used various markings found in the equations and designed a logo for the collection. The logo is somewhat similar to the infinity sign and thus creates a connection to the infinity of the universe and to the infinite research done in the field of astrophysics.
