Over the past few years I have been studying and practicing fashion, but a decade ago, after dedicating most of my life to exact science, I have completed a BSc degree in physics. Those experiences have led me to explore the aesthetics of the golden ration and the work of Hilma af Klint in my final project.

 

The reality we live in is overflowing with metaphors and stimulations and thanks to, or perhaps because of, technology - we are able to stay updated and respond to it all in a matter of seconds. That leads many of my generation to seek a deep connection to something more profound, may it be organic or spiritual, that will serve as a break or a temporary way out from everyday life. I found mine in the form of mindfulness, a dogma that emphasizes reality as it is, without any filters or prejudice. One of the most basic practices of mindfulness is looking at nature and through its beauty – experience reality in its present condition.

As a semi-analytical man, nature’s beauty in my eyes is translated to the golden ration as it appears in many organic shapes (flowers, seashells, the waves of the ocean, shapes of galaxies and storms). af Klint dealt with similar ideas in her work. As a spiritual artist, she believed her work carried messages from beings of a higher plane than humanity. Her aesthetic language combines geometric shapes, symbolic motifs, biomorphic shapes etc.

 

The collection, designed for springtime, consists of six sets for men who seek an elegant and meticulous look, that is also laid back and conscientious of the body. The silhouettes were designed by combining modeling geometric shapes, elements from the tailoring world and rich draping. The materials are natural and include silk, leather, rigid fabrics and soft white knits, with light prints of inconsistent brush strokes, like those featured in the art of af Klint. The pallet will be rich and diverse, like her work. Some of the garments would also have graphic prints of geometric phenomena, consistent with the golden ration in the single element constructing them, as well as in the way they evolve in the print itself.
